Relocation Post

Greets, visitors! Well, we survived our relocation to the Research Triangle, and are adjusting to our new surroundings nicely. It took me a while to post something because there was the small matter of packing, driving two almost laughably-packed vehicles 821.21 miles over the Easter weekend (can you say “No Vacancy?”), unpacking, setting up our utilities & services, unpacking, settling in, unpacking some more, and the myriad other things keeping us occupied.

We're really enjoying the nice wooded hillsides we're staying in (well, “enjoying” while trying to beef up my skills and resume so I can eventually work...). The weather has been very agreeable, averaging 50° at night, and 70° during the daytime. We're staying in a rustic-looking, 3/2½ two-storied house (plus a bonus room my wife stuck her exercise equipment in), which is a lot more house than we're used to. (Other things we're not used to: being able to run a microwave and toaster at the same time without blowing a fuse, a dishwasher, central air, laundry machines, a roof we're not afraid will cave in at any given moment, or having my own office and bathroom.) Most of the acre of land the house sits on is woods, so we're pretty secluded and able to observe wildlife from our windows, front porch or back deck.

We installed a dual-purpose squirrel feeder and torture device, hoping to distract the scheming vermin from our bird feeders (which didn't work of course, so I made a makeshift baffle out of a water container that is working well so far... for squirrels, anyway). My favorite creature has definitely been a huge red-tailed hawk, which I'm hoping to photograph eventually.

Anyway, my relocation story is just beginning, so hopefully I'll have some interesting things to post later. (If anyone has a good relocation tale of their own, I'd love to hear it!)

Dear MorphZone Webmaster,

Dear MorphZone Webmaster,

I read your relocation blog. It was amusing, witty, and a good piece of writing. I went back and read some of your earlier ones. I must say the one regarding your dream about death and change were moving. I sometimes forget how deep you are when I look at you. Yep,I know you and have been watching you. Matter of fact I love you. See you when you wake up...don't worry, I'm not a psycho, serial killer, or stalker.
Love, the MorphWife
