RSS Channels I'm Currently Into

Whether you call them feeds, podcasts, streams or whatever, they're what's on TV. (Or monitor?) I watch many channels while lounging in a beach chair at work (during my lunch break, of course), but these are the ones that get me all giddy upon arrival. Right-click the links and "Copy Link Location" to paste into your favorite RSS reader.

  • XLR8R - A truly rare treat in any format (TV or Internet). Features some extremely interesting individuals, artists, musicians, and is just a really cool format. Side note- I've been a big fan of the underground, pop-surrealism movement for years, ever since I first laid my eyes on the work of artists like Robt. Williams. I'm even a subscriber of his SoCal art scene mag, Juxtapoz, and have to say, this channel compliments my subculture fix nicely. Highly recommended.

  • Rocketboom - An intelligent, insightful and thought-provoking look into the news, world events, and global culture. Occasionally, it features some imaginitive movie shorts, but mainly deals in interesting stories and commentary delivered by one cute and witty Brit.

  • Diggnation - These are the guys I would have liked to hang out with if I'd stayed in a dorm during college. The founders of the Digg.com news aggregator website bring you popular stories, deviant tangents and drunken silliness. It's been one of my favorites for a while, and is a great way to blow off steam (during your lunch break, of course).

  • Totally Rad Show - A kinda newish, multi-format channel, that I believe is still developing a fanbase. I started watching because it features one of the guys from Diggnation (Alex Albrecht), and two other guys I've never heard of. The reviews tend to be a little lengthy at times, but do demonstrate a really impressive level of knowledge and passion for their interests, which are mainly movies, games, comics and TV shows. (I also appreciate the obscure references they mention, some of which, I'm relieved to find out I didn't actually halucinate back in the 80's.)

  • thebroken - The other guy from Diggnation showing his shadier side, again, with two other guys I've never heard of, and again, with beer involved. Kevin Rose seems like he's the only one on the show who knows what he's doing, and Ramzi is just creepy. Still, I can't get enough of the hacking and security subject, and this delivers. (Though I'm not sure if it's still actually delivering... hope they make more, hint, nudge.)

  • Onion News - How does the Onion still remain funny? (And believe me, it is.) Tune in to find out.
